"I am Abby Guirguis APRN-CNP, founder of Tropical Telemedicine. I started this healthcare practice in late 2022. My goal is to provide a fast, convenient way for patients to receive basic healthcare ONLINE.
I have 12 years of Nursing experience, 7 of those in Advanced Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner. While Tropical Telemedicine is strictly a Florida practice, I am licensed in 6 states across the US, including Florida.
I am a Midwest girl, born and raised! I grew up in the small town of Zanesville, Ohio. I feel blessed to have been raised in a very diverse community of individuals, with all kinds of cultural backgrounds and needs. I found a love for health and fitness at a young age. I spent many years as a dancer, cheerleader and gymnast. I was actively involved in my church community, where I learned the importance of serving others. My aunt and close neighbor were both Nurses, and I admired the way they were shaped into such caring individuals by interacting with and helping so many people in their careers. All of these factors led me to study nursing and pursue healthcare.
I attended the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing, where I graduated in 2011 with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. During college, I was a member and officer of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. I was selected for and completed the UC College of Nursing Co-Op program, where I gained inner city hospital experience at UC Health, on Medical-Surgical and Neurosurgical ICU units.
I spent a good portion of my career in Ohio. I worked for 5 years at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center as a Medical-Surgical RN, at Main Campus, and as an ASU/PACU RN at the OSU James Cancer Institute. I worked full-time as an RN throughout graduate school, and finished in 2016 with my Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner degree. My colleagues and I helped open some of the first Walk-In-Care Centers for The OSU Department of Family Medicine, which was a huge, influential learning experience for me. I also worked for Cleveland Clinic in both the operating room and clinic setting, before returning to the Urgent Care setting in 2020. I, then, worked for WellNow Urgent Care centers in Zanesville and Columbus, Ohio. I moved to Florida in 2021. I worked for Sarasota Memorial Urgent Care Centers prior to starting my own practice in late 2022.
I currently reside in Sarasota, Florida and Cleveland, Ohio with my husband (Amir), stepdaughter (Katie), Goldendoodle (Annie) and Golden Retriever (Griffin). I enjoy cooking, entertaining, boating, and running in my free time."
