Can an ear infection be treated online?
Swimmer's ear — an infection of the outer ear canal — is common in Florida and can often be assessed by video based on your symptoms and a look at your outer ear on camera. Abby will ask about your symptoms and history and decide whether treatment by video is right for you, or whether you should be examined in person.
When to be seen in person
Get in-person care if you have a high fever, severe pain, swelling or redness behind the ear, sudden hearing loss, dizziness, or symptoms that aren't improving with treatment.
How much does a visit cost?
$100, paid by credit card when you book. Your prescription is filled at your pharmacy and paid separately. After your visit, you'll receive a receipt you can submit to your HSA or FSA for reimbursement.
Frequently asked questions
Can you look inside my ear by video?
Not the way an in-office ear scope can. Abby uses your symptoms, history and what she can see on camera. If an in-person exam is needed, she'll tell you.
Can I keep swimming?
Abby will let you know what to avoid while your ear heals.
Do I need to be in Florida?
Yes. You must be physically in Florida during your visit. Vacationers and snowbirds are welcome.
