Is it strep or a virus?
Most sore throats are caused by viruses and get better on their own with rest, fluids, and over-the-counter pain relief. Strep throat is a bacterial infection. A test can confirm it, and Abby can order one at a lab near you if needed. Cough, runny nose, and hoarseness point more toward a virus. Abby will review your symptoms and decide whether a strep test makes sense.
Can strep be treated by video?
Often, yes. Abby reviews your symptoms and history during the video visit. If strep is likely, she can prescribe an antibiotic and send it to the pharmacy you choose. In some cases, she may refer you to an urgent care for a strep test first.
